More things seem to be asking for more of our time, and this is the reason that work-life balance is becoming a more popular issue. When nearly everyone was working a 9 to 5, didn’t have email, cell phones, or BlackBerries, their work and their life had clear definition, and thus it was easier to find that balance. Now that there are greater demands on our time, this has become a new type of currency, a measure for defining luxury.

An article in the Globe and Mail in August 2007, reported on the results of a survey undertaken by a number of high-end brands, results showing that many people consider having enough time to do whatever you’d like to be one of the highest signs of luxury.

Could this be a sign that we might need to find a better way to balance or blend our work with the other parts of our lives?
